From the workshop
We built this blue over-the-door mini hoop for bedroom shootouts that run well past sunset. The clear backboard hangs right over a standard interior door, with foam backing to soften the thud. Colored lights trace the rim, cheering when a shot drops through the net and keeping score on the digital display.
Steel rim on foam
A reinforced steel rim takes regular shots and dunks without bending out of shape. Thick foam strips along the back of the board keep the wood of the bedroom door from taking the rattle when a ball bounces off the glass.
Lights and crowd cheers
Colored lights flash along the board as soon as a shot drops through the net. The electronic speaker calls out cheers and keeps track of points, with a volume dial you can turn down when the house gets quiet.
Solo and match modes
The board includes several play options right out of the box. You can shoot against a countdown clock alone, trade turns with a friend while the voice prompts the next shooter, or work through progressive scoring targets.
Fold up and clear
Hooks slip over top of the doorframe without drilling into trim. When the hallway needs to clear or bedtime arrives, the rim folds up against the clear backboard so the bedroom door still swings shut.
